Thorney Heritage Museum

Where are we?

The village of Thorney is about 7 miles east of Peterborough in the north west of Cambridgeshire.  We are within easy reach of the A1 main north-south route, and close to the A47 going from Leicester and Peterborough to wisbech and Norwich.

If coming by car, leave the bypass at the B1040 junction, north of the village.  Turn towards the village.  After the railway gates in a garden on the right, you will see a large brick gateway.  The Museum is in the western (left hand) end of the large building with a tower (the Bedford Hall).

From the south, and Whittlesey, continue across the traffic lights on the B1040 Station Road, and turn right into the large gateway 300 yards from the traffic lights.  The Museum is in the western (left hand) end of the large building with a tower (the Bedford Hall).

Thorney is served by a daily bus service, the X1 from Peterborough to Wisbech,
King's Lynn and Norwich  The timetable is available from here.  There is also a Stagecoach 36 from Peterborough and Eye, Monday to Saturdays (timetable).
