A new wartime item for Thorney Heritage Museum

After some time being kept in quarantine, and also after being treated with a museum-quality insecticide, this wartime fire-watching ladder has been taken to the Museum to add to the new wartime room which will open in early 2020. It has GRVI (King George VI) and 1942 carved into the side rail, and is in quite a precarious state. It was rescued from an old outbuilding (now belonging to Mary Herdman) and is part of the equipment the village needed in the War which has not always been preserved - the extension part of the ladder has not survived.
